Tonight's low for Montreal is -34 Celsius before the wind chill factor. For the Metric-impaired, that is around -30 Farenheit. 😞

My four-year-old Saturn did not start this morning for the first time in its four year life.

Hope everyone else is faring better.

well this is an understandable problem for communities not based on vancouver island. i understand your dilemma having lived (that is perhaps a bit too strong a word) in ontario, for decades.

after we moved here, i used to act in a most unkind and inexcusable manner, deliberately calling everyone i knew in ontario (except the politicians, of course) in the middle of their winter emphatically alerting them to the delightfully mild, tshirt and shorts conditions we were presently experiencing. i used to cruelly tell them that even our snow here, in its minisculity, was warm. most heartless was i in those days.

i am now a much more compassionate being as a result of deep empathetic introspection. so rg and rc, i will not tell you two, my good friends, of these things.

I'm a few hours down the road from you in central Vermont. Our low tonight is -28 C before windchill, going to wrap up warm methinks. Luckily my 10 year old Buick starts first time every time (fingers crossed, knock on wood, etc, etc...)

Wow, this time last year I was living in Montreal and I don't think it got that low without windchill. With the wind, however, brrr.

i really must protest this strongly.

new england is obviously bent on violating the laws of physics or at the very least creating a yardstick to suit their own conpiratory convenience!

such actions need to be denounced whenever they appear to threaten the fabric of the universe!

Edit! Not soon enough I guess....

It's Too Cold For School On Friday
Some school districts, including Providence, New Bedford and Fall River, aren't
taking any chances with the bitter cold. They're calling off classes for Friday.

It was -4.7 F last night, Today is -3 F.

I woke up to a flat tire... and it won't take air! Just so happens I have access to a truck as I am again taking care of my father's place and dog. Arg.

It should warm up to about 30 F on Sunday when the Colts come to town to play my Pats.

turtlex, how long have you been suffering Sox? I've been waiting 30+ years for what will happen this year... Sox take World Series!

Here it's about 0C (32F) at night and 5C (41F) in the day at the moment...

...and would you believe it, Cambridge is several hundred miles North of both Maine and Montreal?

Gotta love the Gulf Stream. 😏 Goodness knows why British people complain about the weather!

Indeed. When I was in Cambridge a few weeks ago, it was balmy compared to here, if a bit rainy.

On a positive note, we have yet to get more than 18 inches of snow at one go!
