The colder the better in my book. Why anyone would want to go to the tropics and miss winter is a mystery to me.
'Winter' in the UK is just slightly colder and cloudier than the usual grim weather. The only way you can tell it's winter is there's a thin layer of frost on the ground and everyone's more miserable than usual because they've got to buy other people presents.

Oh wait that's Dubai right. Why not try to reschedule your flight to allow for a stopover there just so you'll have memories of what winter is like?

And I really don't see what being happy to live in the UK has to do with it. Did I hurt some of your nationalistic pride (in your country's weather of all things!) or something?
Originally posted by PalynkaNot at all, I was just confused at your unusual application for Stockholm Syndrome. I really don't think it applies in this case as I could, if I chose, leave the UK. I'm really not nationalistic about the country at all, I just happen to enjoy the weather here!

Did you chose to live in the UK because of the weather? Because if not, then you are indeed a captive as you cannot escape (not for long, at least) or change it.
But if you're asking me if I think the weather stuck a gun in your face and threw you in the basement then I guess the technical answer would be "no".
