Boeckman is ok when faced with mediocre to poor talent in terms of opponents. However, put him in a high pressure situation against a good to great talented team and he has a tendency to fall apart.

I think Tressel is on the right track in terms of trying to win another NCG. Recruit a great QB and a great RB and we see for the first time that both are coveted nationally. Typically OSU only has a good RB but never a great QB.

As Mack Brown has found out, winning a MNC isn't just about recruiting. Sure, if you can find a a super star quarterback you might ride him to the MNC, but that kind of difference maker doesn't come around very often.

The problem isn't the talent.

There's a reason we have so much depth - tailbacks get hurt.
Holy crap...Ohio must be monsters to hold the much ballihooed OSU Buckeyes in check for 3 quarters only to lose it in the 4th quarter. How can they be 0-2??

Ohio State.....OVER RATED!!!!!!

Now, now, we must not pass judgment until they play USC. We will then see what they are really made of.....that is, of course, unless you question USC is one of, if not the best, team in the country?

OSU will lay an egg against USC.

Yeah, lets criticize a team who is missing far and away their best player on offense.

Defense played very well as usual. Our team didn't seem too concerned about this game - this sort of thing happens all of the time.

Ohio State still won - and that's really what matters.

If we lose next Saturday by a wide margin, then criticism is slightly more acceptable - although still unacceptable.

It was the special teams that saved tOSU's butt in that game. Ohio dropped a punt and turned it over at about its own 20. Later in the game, it was a punt return that put seven points on the board. Take away those 14 points and Ohio walks away with the victory.

In typical fashion, you forgot what you earlier wrote. may I remind you??

Yep, they already have his monogrammed whirlpool being shipped to the campus. He will fit in well with all of the other dinged up RB's at OSU.

Your brilliant response.....

Now, you have already screwed up that excuse, would you care to think of another? Trust me..USC will send OSU reeling into the next century if they play them as tough as they did against Ohio. You would think that a "star powered, extremely deep, national title contender" (as you suggest) would be able to manhanle a small school like Ohio with the thrid team playing the entire game. Perhaps, OSU is OVER RATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, how about we criticize a team for their struggles on the field? On the field is what counts - nothing else.

What's not acceptable is irrational homerism in the face of any kind of criticism...regardless of its justification.

I agree that tOSU is over rated, but I think that telling a Buckeye fan that isn't going to do much good, other than saying "I told you so" after they lose a couple of games, perhaps more.

Next week will be a good one to judge the lameness of the Big Ten. Besides the OSU at USC game (where the expectations are so low for the Buckeyes now that if they lose by 2 touchdowns the usual Big Ten supporters here will be crowing about how great they played), you have Wisconsin at tough mid-major Fresno State, Michigan at Notre Dame (though the Irish looked pretty unimpressive against San Diego State) and Oregon at Purdue. Will the Big Ten win any of those games? Maybe. Maybe not.

If Notre Dame wins, there's definitely something wrong. San Diego State lost to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo the week before.

Just a couple of observations about the OSU vs. OU game. First of all, the most troubling aspect to it all was the inability of the offensive line to blow the OU defenders off the line. In fact, OSU could not even get a yard on 4rth down against them. We even saw evidence of this problem against Youngstown as they were unable to convert in the red zone about 5 times or so with BB Wells in the mix. Of course, not having BB Wells, who is there best player, did not help matters any.

Secondly, OSU will continue to flounder with Boeckman as QB. I have said it before and I will continue saying it. In fact, he alone is responsible for 7 of the 14 points OU scored because of his fumble. What Tressel should have done was to play Pryor the entire game. When he did play him, he showed episodes of brilliance running the ball. Specifically when he dropped back the pass and then decided to run he was picking up about 8 yards each time. However, it was a close game and Tressel decided to go with his experienced QB. Then again, from watching him play you would never know he was a 5th year senior. I say Tressel blew his big opportunity. He should have played Pryor the entire game to help get him ready for USC. As it stands now OSU has no chance against USC. Maybe we can get them next year in Columbus?

Not that I am a fan, but can anyone tell me why Charley Weiss is still the head coach of Notre Dame? Even though I am not a fan, I feel their pain. He has taken a once proud college team and turned them into a laughing stock. There is NO way they beat UM next week.
