They're not squares and they are not just bubbles. They're speech bubbles. Are you purposely being obtuse fro some reason?

Almost two whole pages on this topic. Nobody pointing out that those bubble colours could have been used for something much more useful, that is, "threads I have posted in" or "threads I have bookmarked because they're actually interesting".
