Since this has miraculously worked before with a pop song, I'll try it again. I'm looking for a country song... it's by a male singer with a relatively deep voice.
The chorus starts off with something like "It's alright, me and little Billy"... then there#s two lines which I can't figure out, and the last line sounds like "Life goes on for a little Billy while", though I don't think that's what he's actually singing.

Anyone know this song?
Thanks

Alan Jackson - Little Bitty 😉

Have a little love on a little honeymoon
You got a little dish and you got a little spoon
A little bitty house and a little bitty yard
Little bitty dog and a little bitty car

Well, it's alright to be little bitty
Little hometown or a big old city
Might as well share, might as well smile
Life goes on for a little bitty while

A little bitty baby in a little bitty gown
It'll grow up in a little bitty town
Big yellow bus and little bitty books
It all started with a little bitty look

Well, it's alright to be little bitty
Little hometown or a big old city
Might as well share, might as well smile
Life goes on for a little bitty while

You know you got a job and a little bitty check
Six pack of beer and television set
Little bitty world goes around and around
Little bit of silence and a little bit of sound

A good ole boy and a pretty little girl
Start all over in a little bitty world
A little bitty plan and a little bitty dream
It's all part of a little bitty scheme

Well, it's alright to be little bitty
Little hometown or a big old city
Might as well share, might as well smile
Life goes on for a little bitty while

There's a song by Alan Jackson called "a little bitty"

one of the verses is summink like this;

But it's alright to be little bitty,
little home town or a big old city,
might as well share, might as well smile,
life goes on for a little bitty while.

Could that be it?

Edit; beaten to it.

Angie, I think it is by Red Peters. It is called "Come, Stains". It's about a little boy who has this little dog that has spots on him. Anyway, they form this close bond and become inseparable. The boy is always saying "Come, Stains." Anyway, the little boy gets sick and eventually dies and the singer breaks down at the end crying about how he can hear little Billy calling out "come, Stains, Come Stains."

She said "Billy" not "Bitty". Anyway the story line is better in my song. I would also add that Howard Stern once said this was , in his opinion, the greatest song ever writtten.

"Like a Rolling Stone" might be the greatest song every written, but the only country song that even deserves nomination would be "Folsom Prison Blues" by Johnny Cash.

Howard Stern doesn't know what he is talking about.

Edit: If you consider the Grateful Dead's version of "Casey Jones" a country song, then there could be two nominations from that withered limb of American music. Stick to bluegrass if you want authentic country.

Trust me, "Come, Stains" is the hardest song to ever get out of your head once you've heard it.

I've been listening to old spirituals, as sung by Paul Robeson, Richie Havens, Cassadra Wilson, Bob Dylan, Lena Horne, ...

I can't get "Sometimes I feel like a motherless child" out of my head for the past two weeks. I finally watched Richie Havens' Woodstock performance of "Freedom" again, but it only kept the song going.

I'm sorry but what does someone from Macedonia know about Country music? I never saw Clint Eastwood in a Macedonia movie. Becides Alan Jackson is one of the kings of Country.
But the perfect Mothers Day Country song is. David Alen Coe's "You Never Even Called Me By My Name" perfect country and western song has to mention "Mama, or trains, or trucks, or prison, or gettin' drunk"

Well, I was drunk the day my Mom got out of prison,
And I went to pick her up in the rain,
But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck,
She got runned over by a damned old train.

and also Jerry Jeff Walkers "Up against the wall red neck Mothers."

And it's up against the wall Redneck Mother,
Mother, who has raised her son so well.
He's thirty-four and drinking in a honky tonk.
Just kicking hippies asses and raising hell.

Well,
M is for the mudflaps you give me for my pickup truck
O is for the Oil I put on my hair
T is for T-bird
H is for Haggard
E is for eggs, and
R is for REDNECK.

Now that is perfection there!!!!!

I think that any country sound with the lyrics: "...me and little Billy..." should be excluded to an 18+ forum.

But you presumably have no problem with Red Peters and transcendent greats, such as " I laughed, I cried, I fudged my undies".
