Read it and imagine you're from Albania or somewhere and want to work in the UK and you have a wife and kid.

Then tell me what the problemsss are.

1. Increase in demand for mental health services, along with decrease in supply of those services.
2. Many retirements brought forward resulting in worker shortages in health, education, transport and anything involving skills.
3. Essential workers found less stressful workplaces, and won't be returning.

One thing that's become an accidental benefit is the ability to make medical and dental appointments online. Savvy people book multiple appointments into the future, then cancel the ones they don't need. That provides unexpected spaces for the call-takers to satisfy their customers. Only works if there are actual doctors at the clinic though.

Is recruiting someone "from Albania or somewhere" going to create upward or downward pressure on the wages paid to British health workers [who might well "have a wife and kid"] ?

I don't see how the two are connected.

what lasting effects has the pandemic had on your everyday life?
it's not a mask
it's an IQ test

the most far-reaching and lasting impact upon my life is the addition of a critical piece of wear apparel
i do not decide whether to wear a mask or not, i decide whether to wear the red one, the blue one, or the grateful dead steal yer face one

i still make decisions on whether to wear shoes or a hat, or underwear, but i always wear a mask even tho i intend to keep a half kilometer away from any human wandering

ps
i am not a scientist, but this stuff ain't over

and it never will be

Some from my family were considering regaining unlimited access to countries in the European Union following Brexit by regaining a Polish passport by descent but the paperwork is lengthy and it’s all in Polish. In addition dates and documentation are needed as proof of how our parents travelled to the UK back in 1947.

No, just me rambling BUT my parents weren’t able to read or write in English when they arrived here but they soon picked the language up.

I believe that the government arranged some sort of post war integration program for them with other Eastern European groups who had lost their homes during the war and wanted to come to the UK to work in the collieries.
