When I am not in the mood for tidying up the house I just make myself put away ten items whenever I enter a room.

When I put the spout of the kettle under the nozzle of the water dispenser, I count to ten ~ with an interval of two seconds between each number ~ to get exactly the right amount of water for a large mug of coffee. I do not count to twenty with one second intervals because that makes the whole process feel longer.
