dunno...but most of the idiot words in the dictionary begin with "d"...must be a reason.

yes, becuase the "i" is meant to be silent but king david kept pronouncing it with the i ( as did all the other kings before regicide finally took over )so all we common folk are left with the foolish "e" sounding "i" over the true word "doit" which is early latin for "DOH" !

idiot comes from the greek idios (self) not from the ebrew (King David, but he most likely spoke also egyptian or babylonian) or Latin.

seems the there are some imbeciles around (another nice d-word, I expect another etymological analysis there.

And weher did they drop that d from dfool?
