a bit like clint eastwood, good for two expressions: The Silent Stare, and The More Intense Silent Stare. but clint did it better than anyone. -it wasn't until his later years when he learned his 3rd expression, The Almost Smiling Stare in bridges of madison county, when people started giving him credit as an actor.

No, I always thought he played a stiff, wooden kind of character, never saw him really emoting. Very one dimensional, much like another over rated actor, Gary Cooper.
Stiff and wooden.....he died as he acted.
