It's that time again ... My p2p programme is not doing what it should ... I'm on a 2Mbit line and RHP and all other pages are fast as ever by my download speed has gone from an average 100kb+ to under 2kb a sec.

I've not changed any settings etc. and made a few speed-tests ... Poor performance for a 2Mbit line but solid for a 1Mbit line ...

Anyone got any ideas as I've got nothing ???

Does this apply to lots of users that you are trying to download from, or just a couple.
My suggestion is that lots of people are after the same file as you, and the 'downloadee' only has a limited upload band width.
Which p2p program you using by the way?

I'm using DC++ and Kazalite (very rarely) ... Speed has dropped now under 1kb per sec ... All the hub that I'm a member off don't seem to connect neither ... it's totally screwd ...

I've already downloaded the newest version of DC++ but that did not help ...

Anyone know better p2p programmes I could use instead (My major interest is Music, so no movie only p2p programmes) ...

I used to use BitTorrents before, but you never find what you want and it is really hassle compared to (a working verion of) DC++

That all depends on what you're looking for. BitTorrents might be more associated with higher quality material.

And it's much better if used properly. More successful, less 'hassle'. I almost always use this method and have never failed to get what I'm after, at speeds often touching my connection's maximum.

Just had a quick look at this DC++ and I personally wouldn't trust it. Looks a bit fishy.

I've worked with DC++ over a year now (after abandoning Kazaalite) ...

I never had a virus, never had a problem and the speeds you get are awsome ... I always download at 100KB+ when downloading popular files ...

BitTorrents are nice but I already have thousands of albums and the stuff that I am after is often less mainstream and for that BitTorrents are not very useful ...

You've got to be kidding! I'm now up to my ears in stuff I could never have bought. All thanks to serious music trading using the BitTorrent method.

If you PM me with more details, including the sort of music you want, I might be able to help.

Jim,

Followed the link you posted me ... Nice little programme but a) hardly any user's there (i.e. not a great chance to get the stuff that I'm after) and I still don't seem to get anything downloaded ...

I think it must by my provider **sighs**

I see myself going back to BT very very soon !!!

Talk Talk really is shite !!!
Try using the search tool rather than looking for users. Just type in what you're after, then give it a good minute to search everyone's HDD's.

EDIT: Click on the search files tab then... well the rest is self explanatory.

Failing that, if you've downloaded loads of stuff of recent, perhaps your ISP is strangling your sausage.

WOW ... I've got speeds of 20KB (I've just randomly clicked on everything to test it) ... It's a very small network, but at least it tells me that my connection is not broken ...

Will explore it further ... Quick question though, why do you not want to make it public (the more user's the more files to share) ??

Just something that a few users on there asked me not to do. When I first went into a chat room asking for advice, I was sent an unofficial statement of what is and isn't expected of users. I think that the bigger it gets, the more and more it becomes like napster and all that shife. And the more chance you have of the authorities of becoming aware of it. There is plenty of choice ther though. They even have a heavy meatal chat room. 😛
