the eu has just shot itself in the foot...and it will terminal in one generation as it slowly bleeds out.
the eu has announced and voted for financial punishment for member states that do not follow
"their progressive values" .
the states that did not vote yes will be looking for the exits.
the eu was always the german bankers and the east germans ( merkel ). france is set upon by three sides, the germans, the leftists and the muslims who do not embrace french values.

@ponderable saidActually we, the people of the nation states of Europe who are bound to the EU, will be the judge of it, and now.
Let history be the judge of that and of the achievements of the organization.

We are all glad for that. That blood feud did terrible damage and the Jewish people paid a terrible price for it.
However, it's going to be interesting to see the dynamic between France and Germany once Britain leaves. The two countries just don't see eye to eye over the Eurozone in particular (Mr Macron's reforms have been given the cold shoulder in Berlin), and Britain has historically played "mediator". London has been a crucial counterweight to the Paris-Berlin axis and has also represented the smaller states within the "big four" (Germany, France, UK and Italy).
