I was channel surfing last nightwhen I came across a telly show on VH1 about disco music and the late 70's-early 80's. One of the main ideas being put forth was that the 'Disco Sucks' movement amounted to being anti-gay and anti-fun. I have always hated disco music. I find it repetitive, silly, stupid and boring. Having said that, I don't hate people who enjoy the music. If I was to choose a music from that period, it would have to be punk, which is raw and energetic and powerful. I was shocked to think that these former disco people where accusing me and other disco haters as beiing biogoted against gays and disco lovers.
Your thoughts?
Disco sucks. Do you really think you're a bigot?
How big a bigot do you think you are? Wrong!
Everything's okay. There's a bunker someplace in Idaho.
Don't waste an ounce of energy worrying about what isn't happening.
Life is too short. We are all too long in the tooth already.
Eat lots of vegetables. Try not to be your parents. Imagine heaven.
Then do everything you can to make it happen here on earth!!!
Invite me to the party when you break the champagne bottle....

Sure there were a couple of tunes here and there that warrant listening too, if only for the influences they used and gave birth to. But as to a style/lifestyle of music, disco is, in my mind, for those of a shallow disposition.

As to bigotry, only you can answer that. If you equate disco with homosexuals then perhaps so, otherwise, I'd stop taking any advice/information gained from MTV without an entire Utah Salt Lake, they're hardly the font of all knowledge.

SVW with furry legs and a merrier disposition.
I remember being lectured by some politics graduate about not liking techno. I was an elitist snob and had no right to any tastes of my own, musical or otherwise.

Styles of music are like stepping stones, I enjoy each style for it's own reasons. Disco is just another brick in the road of music evolving.

Complete the sentence: You'd really like techno if you...
then i remembered i was on drugs. hmm.

Nice pic, is it really you or is it a dream?
Originally posted by elvendreamgirlI have to agree - I don't like disco either, but I hate punk as well. I find it really unmusical. Of course, I really am a bigot. I hate just about everybody and everything.😏
