Having watched as much of the World Cup as a working man can, I feel that FIFA has to do something about the diving.
I ref'd for quite a few years so I understand that issuing a card for diving is very difficult with the pace of the game, especially at that level, not to mention the skill of the actors .. um, players.
I think a video tribunal could issue suspensions when video replay clearly demonstrates a dive (or related acting, such as a player grabbing his face as if he's been cold-coccked when there was only a tug on the shoulder). These tribunals would be after the match was over, not in real time.
There's precedent - for example, Australian rules, and the NBA, both levy suspensions based on video evidence, including for infractions not seen or called during the game.
Originally posted by clive59i totally agree. they should have done that and thrown the book at Rivaldo back in 2002. I guess the only problem is that it doesnt do anything for the team who have been cheated against.
