Grampy's claim doesn't necessarily mean that every single person reacts with more than your indifference. He is making the claim that when the name is evoked, the total response of all listeners combined is never complete indifference.

And, well, it's a claim that was made thousands of years ago, by someone infinitely more wise than Grampy. Not that he isn't wise in his own right. 🙂
