@very-rusty saidHow often is once and a while?
LOL....That is like an alcoholic saying I have the occasional drink once and a while. 😉

@handyandy saidYou would have to ask the OP who first stated it. Personally I haven't touched anything in the way of alcohol since 1992 and you? I quit smoking in 2004, which was much harder to do I must say!!!
How often is once and a while?
@very-rusty saidThe OP said nothing about "once and a while."

@very-rusty saidSpeak English! What does "once and a while" mean?
OP said:
Nowadays I can “quit” at will and instantly, so I enjoy the occasional smoke.
Same thing Andy, don't you get it???
@handyandy saidAndy,
Speak English! What does "once and a while" mean?
@very-rusty saidNice copy/paste, but you didn't originally write "once in a while"... you wrote "once and a while."
Andy,
The "while" here indicates a period of time and "once in a while" implies something that happens infrequently during said period. The "every" is optional. The phrase is similar in structure to "every five minutes" and in meaning to another common phrase, "every now and then".
I hope this explanation clears it up for you and you NEVER have to ask again!!! 😛 😉
@handyandy saidYou need a lesson in manners too Andy, is that going to happen? 😛 😉

You need to go back to the third grade.
@very-rusty saidIs English not your first language?
You should keep in mind people on here are from all over the world and speak different languages. English isn't always their first language. 😛 😉
@very-rusty saidMentioning old age is not the problem. What's wrong is ridiculing and stereotyping old age.
Hell you cry when someone metions age on here, PATHETIC!!! 😉
@handyandy saidAndy,
Mentioning old age is not the problem. What's wrong is ridiculing and stereotyping old age.
@very-rusty saidI haven't noticed any disadvantages. What are they?
There is no stereotyping at all, old age has its disadvantages and we both know it!!! 😉
@handyandy saidYou would notice yours more than I Andy, don't you take meds? I am sure you move much slower than you did 20 years ago!!! 😉 I know I do!!! 😛
I haven't noticed any disadvantages. What are they?
@very-rusty saidI don't need pills to survive and I'm no slower than I was at 25.

@handyandy saidI really don't believe you are no slower than you were 25 years ago, that is just nonsense Andy.
I don't need pills to survive and I'm no slower than I was at 25.
My memory is just as sharp as ever and I welcome each new day as a gift.
I reject ageism as just another insidious form of discrimination.
