It's 4am and I'm in agony. I sustained what I presumed to be a little strain in my arm on Sunday from playing cricket. Last night it was a dull ache which I managed to sleep through. Tonight it is agony, I can't sleep for the pain. It's in me elbow region and it's not muscular. I'm almost tempted to think it's a tendon issue, I've been having problems with my long throws, I keep jaring my elbow at full power, but it's never been this painful before. Anyone out there got any ideas?

Cut it off. It'll save pain in the long run.

Somehow, looking at the thread list and seeing your name as the current poster, I just knew you were going to say that 🙂

I aim to please.

In actual fact I've had similar problems in the past. Last time I woke up one morning, tried to get out of bed and nearly vomitted because of the pain. Somehow a muscle in my neck had become strained or something. I spent all that day and part of the next looking at the ceiling. My dad is a doctor but he said there wasn't really anything that could be done.

I've had elbows and such the same way also. Apparently the best thing to do is wait it out. Careful that you don't injure it further if you take something for the pain.

Sorry for my spelling. Starr...
You seem to be suffering of a kind of "tennis elbow". A tendinitis (sp?)
May be you should be infiltrated. But this should be done by a professional.
In the mid time, get paracetamol (500 mg) and take one every 4-6 hours.
Consult a professional as soon as possible,
Hope you feel better as soon as possible.

Wish you were my neighbor... I'd give you some 800 MG Ibuprophines I have left over from when I bent my foot backwards knee-boarding last summer.

You better put yourself on the DL for now... or learn to throw with the other hand.

Now, what would be better on the elbow? Heat or Ice????

Always a tough call.

Good luck bud! No drinking if you are taking meds!!!

We are not allowed to give medical advice (in my country), but it sounds like you need to take som strong anti-inflamatory meds. They really help ya know.

I agree with Little Bear - you should be infiltrated by a professional :-)

I've had the same problem for years.

Someone told me it's because my throw technique is wrong. Apparently you have to learn to snap your arm back before you extend it too far in your throw action. Whatever that means.
This will protect your shoulder and elbow.

Luckily it doesn't affect bowling and I just field in gulley or cover now...

Yeah I think that's where the problem lies too. I wish I knew someone who could teach me to throw again. It sounds so silly, but there's a real difference between throwing a tennis ball to your mate in the back garden and throwing a cricket ball 70 yards at speed.

I used to have the exact same problem, though it seemed to clear up on its own. I thought it was from thrashing on the guitar, but it could be from throwing. I always found that smoking canabis cleared up the dull-ache completely.
