I'd say being buzzed might help. I solved a physics problem after five beers that I couldn't solve sober. My friend, who is below 1200 rating (in USA tournaments, I don't know what the acronym is...FIDE? ELO?) almost beat my other friend who is a strong 1500+ in a tournament after drinking Sparks. Sparks is a caffeine/taurine/sugar/alcohol drink, maybe with some vitamin B in there also.

Nope! It takes me half an hour to successfully move a bishop when I'm drunk! 🙄

You probably think you do. This does not necessarily mean that you really do!

Social skills go way up after one or two beers (and then way down after 5). I presume this goes for chess playing too.

actually-are social skills& chess skills not inversely proportioanl? thus, your skill start to decline, but increase rapidly after 2 beers?!?
