specially note the colourful photosynthetic algal cells (zoozanthellae) that live inside the tissues of the giant clams

Wait, you can have a reef in your house? I keep mine in the ocean, and it dosn't look half as sweet as that reef. Do you have a tank? My wife used to keep fish until the day her filter overflowed down the back of the tank and ruined the floor, ceiling downstairs, and made a huge mess in the livingroom downstairs.

no, it is not my tank. that tank sure is vast amounts of very specialist knowledge on display. have been keen on this subject for a long time now but never actually attempted it, but maybe one day.....

your not joking - my grandad has kept (freshwater) fish for years and has gotten heavily in to it, so decided to up his game by starting a "reef" tank. its looking good but it will take a hell of a long time to get it looking that good.

very hard to do but is worth it, as it looks far better than either of my freshwater tanks 😞
