Nah - it's a more natural and congenial habitat for humans. The influence this has on their dogs is a pleasant side-effect. A dog can be well-bred in a city just as well as in the countryside, but it's harder to find a well-bred owner there. (This as opposed to cats, which cannot be well-bred and are equally evil everywhere.)

I actually know ALL my near neighbours, although that's not altogether hard given my rather remote location..the plus side of that is that we share each others 'concerns' i.e home security \ noise pollution etc, no all night parties ( yep, I gave them up 'recently' ) dogs just don;t bark all night long...folk are genuinely concerned for their neighbours well-being, this is something I never experienced in the city of London, nor Manchester and a couple of other cities I've lived in. The very nature of city life ensures the survival of the entirely selfish individual attitude, folk complain entirely by way of the police and the courts...there is no discourse amongst neighbours, no 'close community' to speak of, it's everyone for themselves and woe betide if you ever challenge the chap with the yapping dog 😉
A cats breed more or less governs their traits, 'similar' to a dog but a cat just won;t take instruction, therefore the owners input is less important...an arse dog owner can do damage on many fronts, from noise to those which can seriously hurt.. the arse cat owner is someone that just doesn't care that their moggy fouls the neighbours garden..I know which one I'd sooner confront 😀
