You guys have serious problems.

Probably more than the people with weight problems you make fun of.
It's not really a making fun of as much as complaining about.

I guess for me when I see someone who is horribly overweight, there is also the stigma that the person is also lazy, over indulgent and complacent in general. I can understand if there is a medical condition that would cause them to collect fat in their body but otherwise, I just don't think it is alright.

What are your preconceptions when you see a grossly underweight person?

Define overweight.

Daley Thompson, considered the greatest decathlete ever,

would have been classed as overweight, and getting close to being classed as obese based on the BMI scales.

Nowadays with more people tending to be larger built should we not be rethinking the defintions of thin, average, overweight etc.

Being overweight can also be a good sign. It means you are eating well and you are unlikely to have Aids.

I would rather be overweight than underweight with ribs showing, sticky out bones etc.

He looks pretty trim to me:

Overweight to me is an excess of feeding and a lack of physical excercise and general toning of muscles, such as:

Preconceptions about grossly underweight people? I suppose they seem like there is some type of illness, mental of physical, but that is different from just being lazy or over indulgent. It certainly is not attractive, the lack of muscle.
