Has anyone downloaded the new version of Quicktime from Apple? I did, its about a 35 meg download, I guess not much in todays terms but I am experiencing problems with it, not sure how to proceed: I write tunes using Cakewalk Sonar and then convert them to MP3 files and store them on my desktop. They play fine with windows media player but after installing this latest quicktime, Win Media still plays fine but when I use the same file in quicktime, it is so jerky it is missing about three quarters of the original sound, it sounds terrible, unlistenable. The new quicktime also has a feature where you can view movie trailers so I tried that and the sound came out almost as jerky as playing my own MP3 files. Anyone have similar experience? My system is a Dell running XP.

Originally posted by StarrmanYeah, I noticed. I used this one comp at work, if you remember I was compaining during the music contest it was running everything faster than it should, it was a Dell. I use an RME Hammerfall Multiface pro sound box, not the regular Nvidia or blaster, wonder if that makes a diff? This is the first instance of any kind of problem like that with the Dell I use for recording. I am in a hotel in Toledo Ohio and brought the recording stuff with and have been composing new stuff which I put into mp3 files and store on the desktop and they come out fine playing win media player through the RME. Might be a codex problem like the guy says. What comp do you use for recording?

Originally posted by Dr StrangeloveI downloaded it and it said its 'highly recommended' to remove quicktime which I did. It worked perfectly right out of the box! So whats up with the official quick time download not working?

Originally posted by StarrmanSo your system records two channels at a time and you build up from there. It works, but requires re-recording for each new track pair, I am doing basically the same thing now at the motel because its only me and only use 3 or 4 mikes max right now and that mixed down to a stereo pair so essentially the same as you. I get 8 channels at once if I have to have it but right now its superflous because I am by myself here. BTW, the alternative quick time download mentioned by the good Dr is only about one third the size of the original quicktime, 12 megs vs. 35.

Originally posted by sonhouseNo, I've got a mixing desk setup with digital I/Os so I can record 8 tracks at a time.
