I first heard of it from a flyer that was on the canteen counter while I waited for my mocha to be served.. It was 8am, it was Friday, and it was very cold. The chill raced up my spine as I couldn't believe what I was reading.
The flyer said that a Chinese man will be drawing "Dragon Snake" in Chinese characters on the floor of the building I work in, and will be running around it in the NUDE for 24hrs.
That day, not a million mocha could have made me feel warmer… the thought made me go soooo very coooold…
And all of that in the name of.... Art..??!
I had to be in at 7am this morning supervising a team of 3 till 1pm. And as promised, the naked idiot was there. Running around out of breath and out of clothes. Round and round he went.. humiliating himself through the eyes whoever passed as well as through three cameras.
And to make the scene even more revolting, he was making noises as if he was an injured animal.. GHOOOOO… GHOOOOO… GHOOOOO…
I felt insulted. I wished he catches a cold that he will never recover from. I don't need to see such images at my work place. Its not like I was ecstatic to leave my warm bed at 6:30am and drive in the blistering cold and snowy weather to be at work in the first place. Its Sunday, and this art-slave isn't the kinda thing I would appreciate to encounter first thing in the morning, dammit. Not because my company shares the same building as the offenders, I have to suffer their so called "post-mo-bullocks".
Am I going insane or in the name of art everything goes these days?

He Yunchang will write the two Chinese characters that form the words Dragon Fish on the ground then run around them in a circle for 24 hours continuously.
With the head of a dragon and the body of a fish, the Dragon Fish is one of the nine sons of the legendary dragon of Chinese mythology.
In a remarkable feat of physical endurance, China's leading performance artist, He Yunchang, will perform his new work Dragon Fish in Newcastle this weekend. This will be a unique live presentation of the latest work in a series of physically extreme performances with which He Yunchang has been testing his own endurance and persistance for over 10 years. This has included having himself cast inside a concrete block for 24 hours, wrestling 100 people in 66 minutes and staring at 10,000 watts of light for an hour in order 'to make his eyesight become worse'.
Whilst running in a circle around Dragon Fish he will be attached to a fine cord, one end of which will be fixed high above him in the atrium of Central Square, the other end will be attached to his naked body by a sub-clavicle (behind the collar bone) piercing. This a rare and unusual piercing which will be undertaken two days before the performance by the world renowned body piercer, Sarge, at Metal Fatigue in Bournemouth, UK.
This event is open to visitors at any time over the 24 hours of its performance.
