Fiend!

I should have held out at the bargaining table a little longer!

Just out of interest ... (and for future games' reference)

I hear a lot about players striking deals before becoming henchmen - what sort of things have any of you bargained over?

High revenue provinces? (Especially important for commoners, I guess)
Interesting issue. l normally offer a fully comprehensive package that is mutually beneficial - based on the value of the provinces (ceded to me and han bonuses etc) and gold is paid each turn.

It can get quite complicated later on in games.

I think henchmen who demand a lot are being penny wise and pound foolish. They're only hurting their own chances in the long run. A wise henchman will do what he can, within reason, to help his liege maximize his potential. Non-royal players can't win by blackmailing their liege for greater concessions, they win by helping their liege to be stronger, which in turn will benefit them far more. The role fiefdoms play in DL necessarily places a greater emphasis on 'team' play.

That may sound like a lot of self-serving hoo-ha as I'm currently in the role of the liege, but I think it's generally true.

As long as the Royal gets his fiefs, it shouldn't matter whether he gives his resources to his Henchmen or keeps them. The only factor I can think of that favors keeping money for himself are the Heroes, which multiply the liege's forces power.

I agree - and my question had nothing to do with current games!

In another game I was asked to become someone's henchman (a non-RHP player) and they mentioned bargaining for it. It made me think of what - other than a few provinces to pillage and/or a troop centre near the frontlines - I could ask for ...

You could ask for gold - either up front or every turn.

Anyone know why we haven't gotten the turnfiles? I imagine it has something to do with a screwup on their end with receiving them, but I haven't received any official notice about it.

I've checked the status of the turn via the website. It keeps telling me that my orders have not yet been executed, which means the turn has not been run by the GM.

It used to be yesterday that the turns were due, but they changed it to today (11 am AEST) about 6-8 weeks ago.

Sometimes you can download a new turn even though it has yet to indicate that they've been updated ...

... just tried but this week's ones are late ...
