What is it with the turnfiles the last two weeks? They're always in by the time I get home from work, but these last two weeks they haven't been.

Not sure - I had always looked forward to 4:30pm-ish which is when the turnfiles would trickle in ...

Maybe there's a big influx in players/games?

GM (or one of them) is playing in a game I'm in ... maybe he's busy 'fixing' the last sets of orders for everyone. ๐Ÿ˜€

My turn just came via e-mail.

Despite rumors that the Dragonclaw tribe's new leader would be strong enough to hold his mighty clan together and focussed, it has fallen into anarchy. Will he be able to unite his people in the coming years or has Dragonclas descended permanently into passivity?

Daddy-O however has NOT left his people, according to Forkbeard Gazette sources. Perhaps he had a few last gifts to give out and one last birthday celebration to throw?

[i]THE FORKBEARD GAZETTE

Published in the First Year of the Benevolent Rule of His Royal Highness, King Castimer of Thorondyr, Prince of House Valdemar, Duke of Duchies Too Numerous To Count, etc.

In celebration of King Castimer's coronation, His Royal Armies pacified several provinces of Barazor, once refuge of the villainous Bandit Prince of Anorien and his Hobbit minions. This intrepid reporter was at the scene of the conquest of Halifirien, a medium sized fortified town in the province of Pinnath Gelin, and you, loyal reader, will be among the first to know all the exciting details of this dramatic battle.

Leading the forces of Light was the mighty Orc Shaman Ukraak Bonecraft, also known as the Lizard King. It is said that he can do anything. While this is almost certainly an exaggeration, his powers are indeed great and mysterious. Where this mighty wonder worker originally hails from is unknown; was he once of King Castimer's allies, the Orcs of the Boar Tusk, or did he learn his arts in the dark and savage lands of the Dragon Claw tribe? No one knows. What is known however is that his power is great and his skills as a general formidable.

Opposing Ukraak was Findan the Accursed, the Anorien general. Findan was reputed to be a wily and dangerous Unicorn Raider in the service of the Bandit Prince. Some have said that he sold his soul to some dark master from another realm for his skill as a horseman and the service of his demonic steed and, it is said, his only lover, a black unicorn mare known as Bloodhorn.

Halifirien sits on the northern bank of the Barazor River. The land is quite flat and open almost as far as the eye can see with the exception of the distant mountain ranges in the northeast and to the south. The town, when it was first sighted, was surrounded by wooden walls, earthen ramparts and a water filled moat. Serving as the central keep was a sturdy stone tower. Keen eyed Elven archers guarded the walls while Eagle riders flew above, scouting for Findan's forces. Due to the presence of the Eagles no surprise approach was possible, but surprise was not needed.

Challenging the Eagles for control of the skies were Valdemar's Dragons. Ukraak himself flew upon a mighty Golden Dragon, flanked by other Golden Dragon Knights. Flying just ahead and below Ukraak's wing were more Golden Dragons, covered in heavy steel armor and ridden by our kin, the Dwarves of Clan Ironbelly. Dragons armored in this fashion are much slower, less agile and more easily fatigued than unarmored Dragons but are far more resistant to heavy missile fire. Following the Golds were our own, larger Red Dragons. As part of the ancient contract between the Red Dragons and Clan Forkbeard, no Dwarf or Man will ever be found riding atop the mighty and independent Red Dragon. However, these mighty wyrms have no need of riders and in fact can perform many aeriel maneuvers the Golden Dragons would not dare for fear of putting their Knights in danger.

As if the Dragons were not enough, marching beneath them were the landbound forces. Ironbelly Rune Guards in tight formation formed the core of these, with Mountain Giants marching alongside and lighter Axedwarves on the flanks. Cavalry of all sorts rode about, screening the infantry; Heavy Bear Cavalry mixed with Ukraak's lizards; man sized two legged biters and the much larger four legged ones - lizards as big and as savage as the mighty Grizzly Bear! The famous Paladins of Valdemar took point while lighter Valdemar cavalry and the secretive deer-men of the Enchanted Dale screened the rest of the walkers.

The GM says a replacement player has been arranged, as I requested.
Strange, it says it's controlled by local forces now.

Osgiliath has fallen. I'll go fishing, too.
