Could an e bike get you to work 7 miles from home and back reliably?

No. Buy a skipping rope instead. Just make sure that it does not get stolen at work or you will have no way of getting home.

So as long as it doesn't get stolen I am okay getting one?
Have you ever owned an e bike? Is 350W good enough or should I get a 500W one?

Depends mostly on the roads you have available for your journey. Around where I live they're popular because there are appropriate roads, but I wouldn't risk it on narrow suburban roads already carrying more cars than they were designed for. Reliability isn't an issue if you buy reputable products from reliable sources.

I’m hoping that you won’t be cycling in an area where you’re spending too much time inhaling toxic exhaust fumes?

No. I live in a rural area. The air is pretty good around here.

Sounds like a great place to get some regular exercise. You don’t like the idea of an ordinary bike with the benefit of getting yourself really fit?

Yes it can.
I know people doing that (and longer stretches) for years.
I personnally go without the "e" as long as I can.
