Where he and Paula live is 860 km from where the earthquake happened. And anyway, I hear he is on a different island today and that one is 700 km away.

Many thanks for your concern, Hakima, but we're fine. Actually still in Sulawesi, flying to Bali tomorrow, which this time involved a pre - flight antigen covid test....probe up the nose, not the sort of thing you want every day but that's what we have to do to cross Indonesian provinces. Anyway the earthquake was in central Sulawesi, we're in the north. Everything's connected up down there, so if the earth gets restless somewhere the volcanoes around here sometimes join in, but nothing so far....Anyway, thanks.
    Phil

Good to know you and your good lady are safe Phil.

    I’m a bit jealous of your island-hopping lifestyle 😀

Never heard of 'Spekkoek', sounds like a Dutch influence?

Yup. Basically a crossover between western layer cakes and Indonesian kue lapis, with spices. A bit too sickly for my tastes, but still somewhat popular in both countries.
