Anyone old enough to remember them? BIG auto-sensory wooden board and pieces, rated in tournament play at over 2100? State of the art in 1986, I bought one then for $500 and I'm still using it, just a great machine. The best table top chess computers are only a couple hundred points higher, even today, I think it was money well spent, what with it's 8-bit processor running at 4 MHZ and boasting 64k of RAM. It still holds it's own against Fritz on my PC.....for awhile, sometimes almost giving Fritz a good game.

Came with the silver and black plastic pieces. I think that was about $200 bucks back in 1992 or so. I wonder where the thing is? It was acting all tweaked out when I put it away.
I am looking at a Radio Shack chess set right now. I got it for 10 bucks from a friend who won't play chess. Hurts his brain. It can do ok, but I never put it to the test against my cm9k or anything. I've actually only had it about a year, played about 5 games while I went to Hershey Fall car show.

I have a MIRAGE chess computer. It moves the pieces on on it's own. 😀 They originally went for $1200 but over the years the price dropped to $350. I wouldn't have bought it but I won $300 in a chess tournament, taking clear second, and the organizer who was losing money in the event, asked me if I'd take it instead of the money.
It still works too! 😵
