yep, calypso collapso today. but tough conditions out there - pakistan may find it hard going with the bat as well. and plenty of rain forecast...

i think strauss is the more natural captain, and he seems able to combine it well with opening the batting. better to leave freddie to get on with the all-rounder heroics.

Strauss for me. Freddie has enough on his plate.

The biq question is who do you drop when Freddie comes back.

On current form, Trescothick surely?
But he is a proven performer and a senior squad member. Let's just hope he finds his form again.
It must be one of Cook, Collingwood or Bell.
Personally, I wouldn't like to drop any of them, but as Collingwood is apparently an "all-rounder" I would drop him since his bowling is innefective in Tests.

About the game - all I can say is it's a good job we've won the series already. Looked like a good day to bowl if you put it in the right areas, which England's bowlers failed to do.

The reason I didn't go for Tresco is because even if he isn''t making any runs, at least he takes the first ball and has been hanging around for a while.

I don't think his heart is in it any more.

Good question

2 reasons to drop Tresco
1. Lack of form.
2. He Mcgraths bunny.

But if you do then who opens ?

I would drop Bell or Cook, probably Cook because he is inexperienced & this is after Aus in Aus.

I do not like the idea of an opener skippering, however Freddie has too much on his plate. So yeah keep Strauss.

How about KP as captain ? Not sure if he has ever skippered before though.

It doesn't matter who captains or who comes out here ,you will all go home with your tails between your legs.
This ashes series will be a huge defeat for England as the bouncier pitches matched with Brett Lee's pace will be to much.
Anyway all you pommies out there you have to have hope ,cause sure as hell you have not got a team worthy of retaing the ashes.

I aint no pom son......

It is this sort out attitude which lost you lot the ashes in the first place...
Bouncier pitches, well lets no forget which team has the bang in bowlers...
Remember Pontings war wound @ Lords...

I think Aus will reclaim the ashes but it will be close...

Haha, take a look at McGrath's prediction last time - 5-0 I think he said.
Not to mention saying if anyone gets out to Giles they should go hang themselves - ALL of the Aussie batsmen did!

Anyway, KP skippering? You're joking, he's thick as a plank!
