Is it just me, or do England play much better football when Captain Marvel doesn't play? Whenever he plays there is a tendency to overplay the ball down the right for his crosses, bypassing the passing game through the middle (might explain why Scholes hasn't scored for two years). Gerrard is equally good at crossing/corners, and joe cole proved Beckahm is not the only decent freekick taker around. Plus Rooney has more vision in his little finger than Beckham has entirely. We're better off without him - and the players agree. Southgate admitted he didn't go to meet mandela because it was no longer about the England team meeting him, it was about Beckham meeting him

to look on the positive side, it was a young side, a lot of changes, and we won! But we won't get away with first half performances like that too often.... Personally, I think we missed Beckham...
