They may have once been the best football Team in the world like Canada was the best hockey Team in the world, other countries are catching up. Neither country can dominate like we once did. Times change old friend.

They are not playing for "FUN" at that level they are playing to win. If they have fun in the process that would be because they won, ever hear anyone say in English football or Canadian Hockey they lost but it was fun???

I probably mentioned this before but in the late 40s and into the late 50s one of our neighbours was a defence man with the Montreal Canadiens. I can’t remember the number of times he said that he’d play for free. Now that likely wasn’t really true but he certainly got across that he loved playing and was having FUN.

Thank You exactly my point, those were different times. Now it is all for the money and fame, back then and even into the 60's it was the love of the game, and Pro Hockey players have said back in that time they would play for Nothing. In fact they did in 72 for the Canada Summit series against Russia, from what I've heard. Remember Phil Esposito's speech to the Canadian fans about booing them in one of their Canadian games, saying they were trying their hardest and these Russians were really skilled. I remember Paul Henderson's winning goal in the final seconds to win the match after being down by several games going into Russia. We won that by one goal after that we finally saw people from Russia and other countries coming to play in the NHL then the expansion, now I couldn't tell you who plays for my favorite Team they switch so much now, it is a business now.
