I posted this in another thread but its buried in a conversation and not to be found. So i figured we could make it a thread. Post your English language trivia questions for the man who truly believes he created the language, Bowmann. Lets see if he really is the Engish language king

Surely that sentence wouldn't make sense. As "crew" is singular. A crew can't sail together. To use the word "together" the subject noun would have to be in the plural.

Crew means a group...which is in itself plural..I think 😕

No, when you talk about a group you use the singular.

e.g. You would say "Our group is called 'I love grammar' " (I'm stuck for a name)

Not "Our group are called 'I love grammar' "

There is always an exception to prove a rule.

My idea is to use different words to solve the question.
I'll use words more familiar to me.
_______ the men worked together before?
have is correct as has is singular have plural

edit: but then im a freakin tool
