Am playing a game in the alpha free for all tournament. My opponent has already won the group, and our game is the last to finish. It's still in progress. My opponent has rook and knight to my rook. He's been chasing me around the board for about 40 moves; if I play cautiously, there's no way for him to mate me, as far as I can tell. After about 20 moves, I suggested a draw. He wanted to play on a bit more. 20 moves later, we're still playing. What's going on? He is waiting for an unforced error, so to speak? (He's already won the group, as I said.) Is he waiting to time me out when I finally go on vacation? At this point, I feel it's unfair to myself, who's proved that I won't easily allow him to mate me, but especially to the rest of the tournament players, who have been waiting patiently for the next stage to begin - for weeks, literally. Any suggestions appreciated.

He/she should accept the draw,'cause it is a draw if you don't blunder. And certainly in a tourney round that's already decided.Tourneys take long enough as it is,no need to draw it out longer than needed!

We can't really talk about a game going on... but here are some rules that might help you.

50 Move Rule (players make 50 moves each, with no pawn moves or captures and game is a Draw)

3 Rep rule (if the board is in the same exact position 3 times the game is a Draw)

Good luck with the game.
