Just cuz she cheated at chess?!
😉
P-
What the heck, I always find this chess story funny. My first USCF chess games were against a person rated 1500 or so. I was already rated provisional around 1280.
He figured an easy win, and sacked a Rook and a Bishop to open up my king side pawns. This story would be really funny if I had won, but I ended up making another bad move and it was a draw position with perpetual check.
After the game he told me that was a bad move... (duh) and I could have won. I should have told him his sac was bad... but I was a newbie to the USCF at the time.

In a tournament in the US, a player announced, no doubt with a flourish, that he had a mate in 3 (or whatever number of moves it was). He proceeds to adopt the regulatory smug expression, and walks off.
His opponent looks at the board, see that he is indeed going to be mated, but plays a move anyway. The first player, having announced the mate, didn't return to the board and lost on time. He was most perturbed when he turned up for his next round to see a zero on the score. He didn't realise that announcing mate is fair enough, but you have to actually stay around to deliver the moves.
