I quote: "The expression "point in time" is a redundancy. Saying "at the same time" is sufficient."

Just for the record, the two are not the same...

"at the same time" could refer to the past, present or future whereas "at this point in time" always refers to the present moment

A "point in time" is a "moment".

Thus the expression is redundant.

thank you

F.A.O. eatmybishop:

The question that prompted the quote was "Can two threads of the same content exist in the same forum at the same point in time?"

Not this point in time.. same point in time.

Just for the record, "same point in time" does mean "same time." It could be now, it could be last Monday at 6:00 a.m., it could be next Christmas. We agree that "this" point in time means now, but the original question referred to "same" point in time.

Btw: In New York, F.A.O. is a toy store. 🙂

Yes it does.

Coincidentally, F.A.O. Schwartz is a popular toy store in Manhattan.

[History: F.A.O. stands for Frederick August Otto]
