White stars reflecting dust and sand
That perfume makes me think of grief
Shake the faith, shake the belief
Who's there to say that we're living this moment?
Feels like I'm in a play
The sets and the props of this your apartment
Seem to be fading away, fading away
So, I wander through these rooms
I feel the orbit of the moons
And I dream what I've become
And all's forgotten by the sun
Who's there to say that we're living this moment?
Feels like I'm in a play
The sets and the props of this your apartment
Seem to be fading away, fading away
Who's there to say that we're living this moment?
Feels like I'm in a play
The sets and the props of this your apartment
Seem to be fading away, fading away
Don't come to pieces in my hand
White stars reflecting dust and sand
That perfume makes me think of grief
Shake the faith, shake the belief
I have no idea what that means.

Done enough of what, and just what is the rest of it that's up to me? 😉
For me, for example, my memories of my life as it was in 1990 [when the album this song is on came out] are intertwined with Kilbey's impressionistic words and images that can give a song like this a kind of indelible worth that is very personal (or not, as the case may be).
That is why I generally dislike and/or avoid videos that are made for songs as they take away some of the potential for investing oneself in the music and allowing one's own visuals and 'significances' to be conjured up.
I hope that helps you understand what I meant.
Originally posted by FMFYa, I get it. I too avoided videos because they changed the meaning of the music that I was first impressioned with. These days, after hearing it all fifty thousand times, I am no longer moved by any of it.
