-Removed-Maya Chiburdanidze, former women's world chess champion. She came to Seattle in 1988 to play a simultaneous exhibition against 20 of us from the Seattle chess club in a prelude to the Goodwill games. After slowly crushing my Caro Kann defense in 36 moves she returned and offered some friendly tips. She spoke good English and was very polite. I also had the honor of taking lessons from Elena Donaldson-Akhmilovskaya who Chiburdanidze defeated for the world title in 1986.
