Before New Moon, and today's "watered down" vampire shows, Christopher Lee starred in 9 Dracula movies from 1958 through 1976. The evil vampire, voluptuous virgins, and thrilling endings will always be my favorites. ๐Ÿ™‚

Agreed. The early Karloff Frankenstein and Mummy movies were superb, making use of the pathos of the creatures rather than gore and shock tricks. Nowadays there’s too much computer graphically simulated ickiness instead of genuine horror.

Agreed, the Hammer films w Lee and Cushing were great, redefined the genre for a whole generation. Lugosi’s portrayal of the count was chilling, but the creepiest vampire of all was the very early Nosferatu, imo.

Cheepnis

Zappa's tune about monster movies from 1973

I ate a hot dog
It tasted real good
Then I watched a movie
From Hollywood
I ate a hot dog
It tasted real good
Then I watched a movie
From Hollywood
Little Miss Muffett on a squat by me
Took a turn around, I said: "Can y'all see?"
The little strings on the Giant Spider?
The Zipper From The Black Lagoon?
The vents by the tanks where the bubbles go up?
And the flaps on the side of the moon
The jelly and paint on the 40 Watt bulb
They use when the slime droozle off
The rumples and the wrinkles in the cardboard rock
While the canvas of the cave is too soft
The suits and the hats and the tie's too wide
And too short for the scientist man
The chemistry lady with the roll-away mind
While the monster just ate Japan
Ladies and gentlemen
The monster
Which the peasants in this area call Frunobulax
Has just been seen approaching the power plant
Bullets can't stop it
Rockets can't stop it
Grenades can't stop it
We may have to use nuclear force
Everyone is advised to go to the shelter at once
C'mon! Hang on! Everybody! Come this way!
Form a line! Form a line!
Go to the shelter
My baby, my baby
Go to the shelter
Go to the shelter
Go to the shelter
Little Miss Muffett on a squat by me
Can ya see the little string danglin' down
Makes the legs go wabble and the mouth flop shut
And the horrible eye, and the horrible eye, the horrible eye
Go rollin' around
Can you see it all
Can you see it from here
Can you laugh 'til you're weak on your knees
If you can't, I'm sorry 'cause that's
All I wanna know
I need a little more cheepnis
Baby, I'm sorry 'cause it's all I wanna know

Interesting behind-the-scenes history, I did not know that before.

My young brother and I used to, every Saturday night order in 24 egg rolls and at midnight watch a show called, Shock Theater, which played old B&W “horror” movies, like the aforementioned Frankenstein. Wonderful memories.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜

A public Facebook post asked if you've met any famous people.
Tom Savini said he shook hands with The Three Stooges. I said I met Tom Savini once online.
