feeding a few folks

General

this saturday, 5/13, the usps will be conducting their annual "stamp out hunger" food drive

this is only for the usa folks, but the rest of you can participate by doing whatever lil act you can in yer own circle of influence to feed someone who might be hungry

a few tins of non-perishables will feed a few folks

For those in America, this is sponsored by the NALC, the National Association of Letter Carriers, and as such, you can present your canned goods to your local mailperson to pickup during their normal rounds. They will take these goods all this week, not just on Saturday.

Thanks for posting this, rookie.

I haven't thrown a dinner party since before COVID.

i did not know this
it's not clear on any link i've followed
i guess i could call the post office, but i dislike talking on the phone
you never know who is eavesdropping
and when it comes to meeting up with the current mook running the route i'm on, well, that's problematic
i'll wait until saturday to put out my box of goods

It has always astounded me how much food we, “1st world” country folk, throw out in a year. Here where we live, not the USA, there are several times a year when there are food drives that are well participated in but then we live in a pretty well to do area with a lot of giving people.

It's okay, rookie, I work for the Post Office.

We have signs up at work about this and hampers out in the entry hall to drop off canned goods. They'll take them all week, trust me. Do put a sign on the box indicating they are for the food drive, and put it near your mailbox.
