There was an extensive study done, by a renowned professor from McGill University, on just that subject and the effectiveness of maple syrup too. The former was highly thought of and as a result the professor submitted it for review to .the Lancet where it was said they , and I paraphrase because I'm a gentleman, "laughed and laughed".
