Apparently it was about some woman slimming down to appear on a TV programme. The slimming pills contained amphetamine as they used and the ensuing chaos is meant to be her hallucinating from lack of sleep.

I only found that out after reading the blurb after watching the film.

Then you've never seen Character.

An absolutely astounding narrative on the relationship of son to father.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Character_(1997_film)

Or, The Five Obstructions.

A steady-handed treatise on the love of friendship.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Five_Obstructions

Or, Burnt by the Sun.

A slice of life during the Great Purge in Stalin's Soviet Union, late 30's.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burnt_by_the_Sun

Or, The Hunt.

Devastating portrayal of a man wrongly accused of heinous activities.

I could go on, but I guarantee you will like at least one--- if not all--- of this list.
One of the tests I use in gauging subtitled films is how quickly I stop reading... meaning, I get the sense that I am immersed without that obstacle.
