Having recently come across an add on for windows live messenger that allows me to 'lock' it, i.e. hide it so no one can see it, with a click of a button. Only for me to be able to reopen it by clicking on an icon in the system tray (among other cool things including tabbed windows for chatting).
I am now curious to know if there is any similar looking add ons for firefox, such that would lock the firefox away somewhere with a click of a button, any ideas?

Hi Wolfie, don't know the answer to your question, but thought I would say hi anyway. Saves you from talking to yourself in here. 🙂

Is this what you're looking for? It will minimize the firefox window to the tray,
but it won't really lock it:

There are a few experimental add-ons for locking firefox:

This isn't quite what you're after, but it's a darn good program:

http://hidewnd.sourceforge.net/

Instead of pressing Alt F4 to close a window, pressing the windows key and F4 will hide a window completely off the screen and will even hide it off task manager. Windows key and H hides everything. You can get the screens back with Ctrl Alt and F1, F2... for the various screens hidden and Ctrl Alt P to get the main screen up.

Very small and safe program, made by a friend of mine from uni. Put it in startup and you're good to go.

I installed it on both my computer and my laptop, just to check it out, it wasn't compatible with my vista on my laptop of course, so I deleted it, but I didn't really like it anyway. Now I'm trying to figure out how to delete it from my computer, I've found the file, but I can't delete it because it says it is running, problem now is it runs when other programs are running, so I can't be deleting it with a program because that would turn it on. 😵
Don't worry, used a system restore point and got rid of it. 😏

Very strange, apologies of course. It was written a few years ago now, and I guess it's for less scrupulous people.

Down worry about it, I would however recommend an easier way of making sure the program is turned off, and of course updating it so it can work with vista, as they'll be lots of people starting to use vista, it'll become increasingly important I suppose.

Thanks though. 🙂
