Is it really dangerous to switch off my firewall for half an hour, to download something which is being blocked? I.e. is it likely I can be compromised during that time I am downloading? Are there any stats and likelihoods?
Computer boff answers only pls. ๐

Is it a software firewall installed on your PC or on your router/modem?

I'm trying to download Nokia PC suite. I have added www.nokia-asia.com to trusted sites. Kasp keeps blocking the download from the site.
I'm puzzled. Do you think it is safe to switch off Kaspersky? My worry is that I might be open to all sorts off jacking attempts during that period. It's rife here!!
Any ideas?

since it's a software firewall running under windows ...
download linux mint ISO image from linuxmint.com. burn to CD. boot CD connect to internet. open firefox. download the nokia program to a jump drive. reboot to windows (removing linux CD when prompted).
you won't be running under windows, so you're windows setup shouldn't be touched, attacks or no. and linux is bothered by many less attacks than windows is.
