And Big Ten teams haven't done very well in the Rose Bowl for about the last 40 years. I wonder why?

No1 you keep whining about non-conference schedules. Michigan's was a lot tougher than Florida's.

For the record,
Finally, here is the combined record of conference opponents DEFEATED by Michigan and Florida (in other words, throw out the record of the teams that beat them):
Michigan Big Ten Opponents defeated: 44-40 .524
Florida's SEC Opponents defeated: 61-36 .629
Originally posted by Wulebgr(1) Big Ten vs. Pac Ten Big Ten has three of the top four teams. In fact most rankings have Wisconsin ahead of USC which would give the Big 10 the three best teams.

(2) If you want to compare schedules you compare ALL games. Michigan won every game except a close road game (AT the #1 team in the nation). They also blew out a BCS team and then #2 team (AT Notre Dame). Michigan won its games by more covincing margins and betters (who just care where they can make money) think Michigan would be a 6.5 point favorite on a neutral site against Florida. There is no reason to believe Florida's schedule is more impressive.
Michigan played at Notre Dame. Ohio State played at Texas. Those were the two toughest out of conference games of the year. To read that Michigan Schedules "high school teams" when Florida plays Westen Carolina and other jokes is comical. Part of having a tough out of confererence schedule is actually leaving your state to play a good team. Florida simply does not do that.

How about these questions:
How many teams in the Big Ten would be expected to beat Florida State this year?
How many teams in the SEC would be expected to beat Florida State this year?
How many teams Michigan played would be expected to beat Florida State this year?
How many teams Florida played would be expected to beat Florida State?
2. All of them.
3. All of them.
4. All of them.

The most impressive non-conference win of the year was USC's massacre of Arkansas on the road, which they followed with a thrashing of Nebraska which, unlike Texas, made it to the Big 12 championship game.

Originally posted by poundleeWisconsin is a fraud who played the most ridiculous out of conference imaginable; 3 mid-major teams with losing records and a non-division I. They had one game against a Top 25 team and got beat badly. And if you want to take Arkansas (SEC with 3 losses) over them in the CapitalOne, you have to lay 2 points or put $120 down to win $100.

EDIT: The record of Florida's three non-conference Division I opponents was 18-19 and two are going to bowl games. The record of Wisconsin's three non-conference Division I opponents was 9-27 and none won more than 4 games. So yes, Florida's non-conference schedule was far tougher than Wisconsin's.
