Is it time for Dario Gradi to step down?

I heard on the radio today: 'Watford in yellow were playing like Brazil, Crewe were playing like, well, er, Crewe'

But I feel Crewe have been playing above their natural ability for a couple of years now, and now nature is being restored.

Dario's managed Crewe to the most succesful period in their history (admitedly not that much competition for that honour), and produced premiership and international footballers like David Platt, Danny Murphy and Dean Ashton ... respect is due!

True, but he has to pack in sometime. We cannot offer praise high enough, but part of the good job he's done has been to build a footballing empire for the long term. Might it not be time for him to move upstairs and run this academy, while a young manager with fresh ideas comes in and takes charge of the team.

If Chievo Verona (Chievo - population about 2,000) can sustain a Serie A club then Crewe can stay in Division 1.
