When thinking about independence, I realized we (Americans) have many freedoms that we take for granted. I realized just how lucky I am to live in a country to where you can worship and say anything you want. Many people don't have those rights. We also have a justice system based on the idea that its better to let 99 guilty people free if you save 1 innocent person from going to jail.
I want to wish fellow americans happy independence day and urge them not to take the freedoms we have for granted.
On a semi-related note I was nearly killed a few minutes ago by a speeding state police car passing on a two lane road over a hill. And if we had collided, head on no doubt, they would have found a way to make it my fault. Considering, of course, that I survive the hypothetical crash.
Near death at the hands of an incompetent cop, severe flooding that ruined my family's annual 4th of July party, topped off by our president rock and rolling in Graceland instead of declaring a state of emergency has all left me feeling a bit unpatriotic. That and the war.

Woot.
Back later.
P-
I had the best Independence Day ever: woke up and listened to Bill Bennett's radio program, worked on my house, walked the dog, watched the space shuttle launch, cooked bratwurst and Italian sausage, watched Germany vs. Italy, drank German beer, ate watermelon, watched the fireworks. Happy 230 America!

That's at least 6888 free-roamin' criminals right there!
The US has more people in Jail than any other country in the world, even more than Russia, China, and North Korea. The US government is imprisoning people without a trial, for years has been illegally wiretaping it's own citizen's phones and emails "just in case", and now is combing through the entire WORLD's banking records "just to uh, make sure, you know, that uh none of them thar evil-doers are up to somethin". The New York Times writes an article describing these highly illegal actions and then the US government ironically tries to have the New York Times charged with TREASON!???! What a joke.
Land of the Free? Enjoy what few freedoms you have left.
