I can already feel my anus becoming impacted. What's with the lofty price tag these days? A price of increase of 100% in, what, three years seems a bit grabby to me.
Russ, are you in financial trouble?
Gambling debts, perhaps?
Did you piss all those old fees away on chips and lager?
Are you a financing a wedding similar to this one:

More like $0.14/day when you do the courrency conversion but your point is well taken.
I'll pay, but not without giving a gutshot first. This much is my right. This much I deserve.
stating the fee increase only applied to new members. Am I mistaken?

EDIT - Realized it was acutally five years. 😞

It's economics. If subscribers would pay $1000 per day, then he could charge that.
There's a price where you make it too high, then someone else does it cheaper. Everyone starts heading to that one.
The price has to be worth it.
There's how good it is.
There's how strong the membership and their loyalty is.
All of that's balanced against the cost of operating the site.
$40 could be a real bargain if it means that Russ and Chris can hire some help or contractors to do things to improve the site to make it better. It could be a real bargain if it means that it helps to create a better site with better members. That is, if you're paying $40 to be here, then you want a good experience, and you have something to lose if you don't behave right.
I think it's too much, unless there's a lot of costs in operating this that I don't know about. How much do they have to pay for the computers and their internet services and electricity? Are they giving up their day jobs and making this a full time job? Those things count.
I love it here. I don't want them to mess it up. They can always reduce the price and do other things if they make the price too high.

Man I'd pay 100 bucks a year to be a member here.
40 is nothing.
Caveat: I'm fine with paying $40 when my time comes, lest anyone thinks I'm being critical of the site or its owners.
