I'd guess that performing this task on a regular basis would make a guy very hot, so being cool would be a distinct advantage, unless the cool was wearing a string vest and bottomless chaps (giving the cool a double meaning if attending a "Village People" convention).
I think a regular ranch would be better. The ranch hand is used to the weather conditions, and messing with them would be wrong.
