Originally posted by WildfireYeah, I know a lot of people feel that way, but mostly it's people who haven't really given the show much of a chance. It's like any show (for example, The Sopranos). If you watch/listen once or twice, you probably won't appreciate it. I can't say that I agree with everything that goes on, but for the most part, it's a hell of a nice way to pass the time during my morning commute. If you don't like it, that's fine. On the other hand, if you get a chance, have a listen. You've got nothing to lose. It's actually quite entertaining.

Originally posted by WildfireI totally agree. To tell you the truth, I'm not crazy about the TV show either.

There are a lot of staff members (Artie Lang, for example) who participate in the radio show. As you listen more and more, you kinda grow to like them and get into it a little more. Anyway, it's pretty fun and honestly, Howard is a radio personality, but he's much different off the air--or so I hear.
One thing that gave me a lot of respect for him was the way he handled the whole 9/11 broadcast. It went from comedy, to strictly news and he seemed quite broken up about the whole thing. It was very tasteful and thoughtful and made you realize even more that the regular show is just for fun and laughs.

He has a big assed nose.
Howard used to be really edgy and controversial and often funny. Sometimes he crossed from funny to just plain obnoxious and offensive.
But, he was rarely boring. I felt that as time wore on in New York he got boring.
The radio station that was the flagship in NYC recently replaced his replacement with Opie and Anthony, who were hired away from XM. These guys were everything Howard was when he was young and more.
The homeless shopping spree to Shrot Hills mall still makes me laugh!
Originally posted by Red NightHave you listened to Howard on Sirius? I feel like he's returned to his old self. He was getting tired of being targeted by the FCC I think. Artie Lang has been a great replacement for Jackie the Joke Man. In all fairness, Opie and Anthony aren't bad, but I still prefer Howard.

Agree on Artie.
If he's back to doing some of the old stuff that was a little more controversial, that's great.
If it's just a parade of girls getting evaluted or spanked...not that those weren't entertaining...the first time...but for how many days in a row...
Originally posted by Red NightNo, it's actually improved quite a bit.

One funny thing...
They've been doing roasts of all the staff members. The Artie roast was HILARIOUS! The Gary roast is next. I'm sure you can imagine how funny that could/will be.

I remember listening to the guy in the late '80s. Sometimes he said stuff so gross I would turn it off.
Do you remember the old TV show on channel 9?
Artie was a good addition. I remember at the end of the KROC run thinking he was the only thing worth while on the show.
Originally posted by Red NightYeah, like I said, I don't agree with everything that goes on, but it helps to keep in mind that's it's mostly tongue-in-cheek. Sometimes I'll even turn it off if I don't like what they're doing. Channel 9? WOR? You must be from the NY area. Do you remember "Wonderama"?

Artie is hilarious. He's even better uncensored. Richard is pretty funny too. Another good addition.
Originally posted by rbmorrisHave you given Adam Carolla a listen? I think you'll like him too RB. I get him on my commute to work in the morning. I think he is a bit like Stern. At first he kind of grates on you but as you keep listening (and you will) he just kind of gets your ear. Great sense of humor.

Originally posted by rbmorrisPeople is always askin me about the BWA avatar and I must tell them that it comes from the Howard Stern Show wit a little photshop help from RBMorris. Please give the boy a listen. Riley Martin, the black alcoholic, who claims he was abducted by aliens and given special knowledge and language will have his call in show. He's the best. It's all BWA certified.
