If you don't know Arabic, here's some help:

Mujadara (pron. Moo-JAHD-arr-ah) is a common Arab dish in Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan. It is made with rice, lentils, and spices.

"Bismallah" is a term meaning "In the name of God," based on the nouns "isim" which means "name," and, of course, "Allah," which is the generic Arabic word for God, used ...[text shortened]... ut it seems to be some sort of greeting) and "Ahlan wa sahlan." (welcome)
Ok, I enjoyed the joke, for whatever it's worth, and thank you for it. ๐Ÿ™‚

This is true. If you don't know much Arabic you probably won't get it, but otherwise it's kind of funny in the "real-life" kind of way.

I was talking to a Lebanese-American friend of mine who knows absolutely no Arabic (she pronounces the dish "mujadara" like "MOO-juh-DAAR-uh"๐Ÿ˜‰. She referred to Hezbollah as the "Christian party" and I asked, "Bismallah, what did you say??" She replied "My name's not Bismallah."

Moral of the story: crime doesn't pay.

Hmm, I know what Bismallah means and what you said is correct.

But i was saying, why would you tell your friend, "Bismallah, what did you say" and she thought you called her by her name! Doesn't Bismallah mean "In the name of God"? Why would you say: "Bismallah, what did you say"

And i know Bismallah is used when you start something as i mentioned, as for example eating. Thats how muslims do it.
I am Muslim. My family does not say bismallah before eating; we say alhamdu li'llah (praise be to God).

What kind of muslim are you? A fake one.. Go read your books more carefully, and see what the majority of muslims do. Or even ask a sheikh with a long beard!!!!!

"Al'ham du'lillah" (not actually sure what exactly that one means, but it seems to be some sort of greeting)
It means "Praise be to Allah." It is the segment of first verse of the first chapter of Quran.

Thank you. ๐Ÿ™‚ I've never bothered to try to read the Qur'an in Arabic. It's pretty writing, but I can't read calligraphy ... you know.

Yes, clearly someone who says "praise be God" instead of "in the name of God" before eating can't be a true Muslim.
