@divegeester saidWife has ZTE powered by android tablet which she finds to be good, never had a Samsung tablet or have I.
I have never owned or used a Samsung tablet before but need to buy one as a gift. The model list is confusing.
Any recos please?
Thank you.
I always thought it was just for games. She said no you can go on the internet and do pretty much what you want.

buy the top of the line
@divegeester saidI have 4 Samsung tablets bought over the last 6 years. The A mid-range series are fine but I prefer the top-end S series which are wider than the A. The shape, and the price, are the only real differences between the two types.

I use the 8" Tab A mainly as a book reader, and the 10" S for everything else, but each is fully capable of doing everything, including casting to a Samsung smart TV.
A warning: all of those tablets have the microUSB recharge socket which is easily damaged. If there's a wifi recharge model I'd go for that next time.

Kindle is too proprietary, I can't run some apps on it because of that.
@kewpie saidThanks Kewpie.

If the S range are no different in terms of operating ability, why are they more expensive, just screen size?
@suzianne saidThanks.
I have Samsung phones, but have never bought the Samsung tablets. I usually buy the Kindle tablets, I have a 10" one now that is very good.
The latest one has the USB-C connector, instead of the mini-USB.
It’s for my Mum. She has had several Samsung phones so I want to get her the same brand tablet.

@divegeester saidThere's probably differences under the bonnet to justify the price difference, but nothing that the ordinary user would notice. The screen size really does matter to me. I'm typing this on the small A which doesn't have as good a keyboard, no emojis and I have to fiddle around quite a bit on this site to move between gameplay and forums. I'd much rather be on the S, but it's developed a charging problem recently (it's 4 years old) so its battery life is only about 3 hours. Older people need bigger keyboards, too. I've taken longer to type this post than I would have had. Definitely go for the 10", but the A should be just fine. Peter's very happy with his new 10" A which has the good plugs. Model SM-T510 is our joint recommendation.
Thanks Kewpie.
